Cityscape (7'0" x 9'0") – New Handmade Moroccan Wool Rug

Columns of soft, stacked blocks rise from the lower edge like a skyline seen through mist — sage green, seafoam, dove blue and celadon stepping and shifting against a calm cream ground, with warm brown and charcoal grounding it and a scatter of tiny squares drifting across the top like falling confetti. It is abstract and architectural at once, closer to a Paul Klee cityscape than to any traditional rug, and it has the composure of a piece made for a gallery wall — laid on the floor instead.

The palette is what makes it. Muted greens are one of the most sought-after colours in interiors right now, and here they are handled with real subtlety — a dozen shades of sage, seafoam and grey-green, cooled with blue and warmed with the occasional ochre, all held together by open cream. Calm, cool and quietly luxurious.

It is newly hand-knotted in 100% wool by the women artisans we work with in Morocco, hand-spun and hand-dyed using our traditional vat-dyeing process. Every one of those soft greens was mixed and dyed by hand, and the composition drawn freehand at the loom — which is why it reads as considered rather than manufactured. We would rather make one honest, human piece than a hundred flawless copies.
