Grand Bazaar (6'4" x 13'10") – Authentic Vintage Moroccan Rug

Fourteen feet of deep burgundy, and down the whole length of it, four great diamond medallions rise out of the ground one after another. Each is a stepped, latch-hooked lozenge built up in fine outlines of pink, saffron, olive and ivory, and between them the field is dusted with hundreds of tiny marks — small birds, hooks, crosses and stars — scattered across the wine-dark wool until not an inch is left plain. The eye travels the length of it the way it travels a crowded street.

This is the largest piece in the collection, and one of the most finely worked. To hold detail this small across nearly fourteen feet, a rug has to be tightly and patiently knotted, and this one is — the work of a weaver at the height of their skill, on a loom that must have been occupied for months. A strong multi-band border frames the whole field, crisp and unbroken the entire way round.

A rug of this length and quality is not a piece you add to a room. It is the piece a room is built around — a genuine showpiece, and at these proportions, a rare one.
