Meadow (4'6" x 7'2") – Authentic Vintage Moroccan Rug

Rows of little flowers, tufted up out of a flat ivory ground so they sit proud of it like something growing. Each one is a small four-petal form in soft pile — turquoise and pink here, pink and yellow there, buttery yellow at the top — and no two are quite the same colour. Fine pale-blue lines run the length of the rug between them, dividing the pale field into loose columns, like rows in a garden.

The way it is made is unusual, and part of why it charms. The ground is woven flat, and then the flowers are added as raised pile on top — a mixed technique that gives the piece real texture and lightness at once.
