Moss (4'10" x 9'2") – Authentic Vintage Moroccan Rug

Olive green, from one edge to the other — and if you have looked for a vintage Moroccan rug in green before, you will know how rarely one appears. Red, cream and natural brown are the colours this weaving tradition returns to again and again. A plain field of deep moss green, at this scale, is an unusual thing to find.

It is not a flat colour. Look down its length and it moves — lightening toward sage in places, deepening to a bronzed khaki in others, drifting in soft horizontal bands. This is abrash, the record of wool dyed in small batches over the weeks the rug took to finish, each lot a shade off the last. On a plain field it becomes the whole composition, and it is the reason a hand-dyed rug looks alive where a machine-dyed one looks flat.

The pile does the rest. It is deep, dense and genuinely soft — the kind of shag you notice underfoot before you notice with your eyes. And the colour could hardly be more current: olive and khaki are everywhere in interiors right now, but almost always in new production. This is the real thing, already decades old.

We buy rugs like this because we would rather sell one honest, irregular, human-made piece than a hundred flawless machine copies. It was hand-knotted in Morocco decades ago, it has already lived a life, and there is not another one anywhere.
