Patchwork (8'0" x 9'6") – New Handmade Moroccan Wool Rug

Blocks of colour interlock across this rug like a patchwork quilt drawn by a Cubist — squares, rectangles, L-shapes and stepped keys nesting into one another, some sharp, some soft, with just enough open cream to let the eye rest. Every colour is here: blush and rose, sage and forest green, sky and denim blue, marigold, coral and lilac. And yet nothing shouts, because each is worked in a slightly dusty, sophisticated tone — rich and painterly rather than primary and loud.

It is a full-spectrum rug for people who love colour but want it handled with taste. From across a room it reads as a warm, joyful mosaic; up close it becomes a hundred small compositions, each block meeting the next in a way that only a freehand hand could arrange. There is no repeat, no traditional motif — just balance, rhythm and a genuine love of colour.

It is newly hand-knotted in 100% wool by the women artisans we work with in Morocco, hand-spun and hand-dyed using our traditional vat-dyeing process. Every one of those dozens of colours was mixed and dyed by hand, and the whole composition drawn freehand at the loom — which is why it feels alive rather than manufactured. We would rather make one honest, human piece than a hundred flawless copies.
