Red, edge to edge — and of all the plain red rugs we have, this is the reddest. Not wine, not oxblood, not a faded cherry, but a clean, vivid crimson that holds its brightness across the whole field. There is no pattern to distract from it and no border to contain it. The colour is the entire rug, and it is a confident one.

Look closely and it does move, gently — a slightly deeper band here, a lighter one there — the soft abrash of wool dyed in small batches by hand. But where some plain rugs shift dramatically, this one stays remarkably even, which is its own kind of achievement: to dye this much wool this consistently, by hand, without a mill, is not easy.

The pile does the rest. Deep, dense and plush, it is soft underfoot and gives the colour a richness and depth that a flat weave never could. A plain rug in a strong colour is one of the most useful things you can own — it brings warmth and confidence to a room without adding a single line of pattern to manage.

We buy rugs like this because we would rather sell one honest, irregular, human-made piece than a hundred flawless machine copies. It was hand-knotted in Morocco decades ago, it has already lived a life, and there is not another one anywhere.
