Sea Glass (8'0" x 10'2") – New Handmade Moroccan Wool Rug

Soft, rounded shapes drift and overlap across this rug like sea glass scattered on a shore, or leaves floating on still water — large organic forms in seafoam, sage, sky blue, denim and cream, interlocking with no hard edge anywhere. It is abstract and calming at once, a Matisse cut-out cooled to the colours of the coast, and it brings a room a genuine sense of quiet.

The palette is its gift. Cool, watery greens and blues are among the most restful colours you can put in a home, and here they are layered with real subtlety — a dozen shades of sea green and soft blue, grounded with olive and dove grey, lifted with cream. It is colour that soothes rather than shouts, sophisticated and endlessly liveable.

It is newly hand-knotted in 100% wool by the women artisans we work with in Morocco, hand-spun and hand-dyed using our traditional vat-dyeing process. Every one of those soft blues and greens was mixed and dyed by hand, and the composition drawn freehand at the loom — which is why it reads as considered and organic rather than manufactured. We would rather make one honest, human piece than a hundred flawless copies.
