The Bedroom Guide

WAKING UP SOFT

The Foundation of Rest. Your guide to sizing, styling, and placing the perfect rug for your sanctuary.

The alarm goes off. It’s 6:30 AM on a February morning. You slide your legs out from under the warm duvet and your feet touch the floor.

What happens next defines your day. Do you flinch at the shock of cold hardwood? Or do you sink into soft, hand-knotted wool?

With Valentine's Day approaching, many of us are looking to make our bedrooms feel more romantic and cozy. But the most important relationship you have is with your own rest. Here is our guide to styling the bedroom rug, featuring three distinct setups from our latest collection.

1. The Sanctuary: Wall-to-Wall Comfort

If your goal is maximum luxury and warmth, look at the banner image above. This is the "All-In" approach.

Using a large 8'x10' or 9'x12' Beni Ourain rug creates a soft island for your furniture. Notice how the rug extends well beyond the sides and foot of the bed. This ensures that no matter where you step, you are met with plush texture. It also dampens sound, creating the quiet acoustics necessary for deep sleep.

2. The Statement Anchor: The "2/3rds Rule"

Perhaps you have beautiful flooring you want to show off, or you want to inject a bold pop of color without overwhelming the room. Enter: The Vintage Anchor.

As seen in this setup, the rug is placed perpendicular to the bed, starting about halfway down the frame. This is often called the "2/3rds Rule."

This layout works beautifully with our Vintage Collection. The deep red tones of this rug ground the space and contrast perfectly with the cool sage green bedding. It brings character and history to the room while still giving you a soft landing spot where it matters most.

3. The Artful Accent: The Runner Approach

What if you have a smaller room, or you simply want a touch of artistic flair? You don't always need a room-sized rug.

Placing a colorful Boucherouite runner at the foot of the bed (as shown above) or along the side is a brilliant design move. It acts like a piece of art on the floor, connecting the bed to the rest of the room without covering up your hardwood entirely.

The Verdict

Whether you choose the enveloping calm of a large cream rug or the soulful history of a vintage piece, the goal is the same: to make your bedroom a soft place to land.

Start your day with softness.
